Jasmine Hernandez ’26

My name is Jasmine Hernandez! I have lived in Los Angeles, California, specifically Culver City, for the past 18 years of my life and made the journey to Amherst College. Currently, I am a first-year (Class of 2026) and would like to double major in LJST (Law, Jurisprudence, and Social Thought) and LLAS (Latinx/Latin American Studies).

Outside of my academics, I have joined La Causa and NISA (Native and Indigenous Students Association) to be more involved with the community outside Amherst College’s academics. A couple of things I love doing are playing the flute, running, and journaling.

Music has played a big role in my life for the past eight years. In Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, I have played in the Walt Disney Concert Hall, conducted under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel and in the presence of John Williams. It is one of the many experiences that have shaped me into the person I am. I started running to hopefully run a marathon. My love for journaling about experiences became more frequent as I felt writing things down was a safe space to learn about myself.

If you have any other questions about me or about Amherst, please feel free to reach out! You can find me at jihernandez26@amherst.edu.
