Arthur G. Hailand, Jr. '45 died April 17, 2009.
Art Hailand died April 17, 2009, at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, Ill., at age 86. He was the husband of the late Mildred Bunn Hailand (married 58 years) and the late Sally Parriot Hailand (married three years).
Art served as a naval flight officer in the U.S. Navy from 1942-45. Later he was vice president of Johnson & Higgins, brokers, and served on numerous boards as chairman, including Air Wisconsin, Butler International, Lake Forest College, Chicago Maternity Center and the Hun School. Other boards on which he served were Springfield Marine Bank, Sangamo Electric Co., Children’s Memorial Hospital, Shedd Aquarium and the Lawrenceville School.
Art is survived by his three children, Leslie, Arthur III and Jeffress; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
The Class of 1945 extends to Arthur’s family its sincere condolences.
