Deacon Albert P. Bergeron '44
Al died on September 17, 2006. A graduate of Amherst in 1946, he became a diplomatic courier in the American Foreign Service of the US State Department. He resigned in 1951 to attend Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, from which he received a degree in 1952. He then served as a reporter and editor until he became a deacon in the Catholic church, where he was highly regarded, particularly for his work in involving parishioners.
