In Memory

Robin died peacefully March 13 at his home in Chatham, Mass. For the past few years, his health had deteriorated.

Classmates will remember Robin for his ready smile, friendly personality and exceptional football skills that included catching a pass and then running for the game winning touchdown against Brown our junior year, a play that highlighted the team’s undefeated season. A member of the Theta Delta Chi fraternity, Robin showed maturity in decision making that commanded the respect of close friends and associates. As a student, he had to work hard for good grades, displaying concentration and determination that frequently eluded his friends.

I was Robin’s roommate and close friend for three years. Robin was always ahead of the curve that most of us still had to negotiate. He was the first of us to have a serious girlfriend whom he married. He was the first to father children, to have a serious job and then to own a business, an insurance agency that he purchased in 1958. He built the agency to a point where it provided insurance for most of the businesses and its residents in Chatham. By all measures, he was a success as a businessman and community builder. In short, Robin was the first of us to become an adult.

Robin loved the water, especially fishing and sailing, and owned two boats to accommodate his interest and to provide a teaching base for his children. He purchased a second home in Rangely, Maine, which he used as a base for fishing and hunting, and also for accommodating his family for skiing and fishing trips.

Survivors include his wife, Christie; his former wife, Marian Tweedle, and their children, Steven, Lynne, Donna and Christine; and several grandchildren. All will miss him.
