2013 Medal for Eminent Service

Alan S. Bernstein ’63 and Kent W. Faerber ’63 received the Medal for Eminent Service. The award is presented to members of the Amherst community who have demonstrated extraordinary devotion to the college. Read more in Amherst’s news release.

Class of 2013 Honorary Class Members

The Class of 2013 elected the following Amherst College staff members to be honorary classmates: Patricia Allen, conferences and special events, public afffairs; Dave Cetto, dining services; Tony Esposito, dining services; Don Kells, post office; Ted Keyes, facilities; Cara Sullivan, campus police; Pema Tsering, facilities; and Tashi Youdon, dining services. They were honored at Senior Assembly on May 8.

2013 Swift Moore Teaching Award Recipients

Three secondary-school instructors who challenged, inspired and moved members of Amherst College's Class of 2013 will be honored with the Phebe and Zephaniah Swift Moore Teaching Award during the school's 192th Commencement exercises at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 26. This year’s recipients include Deborah Hepburn, an English teacher from Clinton Senior High School in Clinton, N.Y., nominated by Anna Hagstrom ’13; Larry Klein, a history teacher from the Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, Calif., nominated by Maddy Sprung-Keyser ’13; and Fred Murphy, a history teacher from Frederick Douglass Academy in New York, N.Y., nominated by Lorena Rodriguez ’13.
