2000-01 Music at Amherst Series Announced

August 8, 2000Director of Media Relations 413/542-8417 AMHERST, Mass.- The Los Angeles Piano Quartet will open the 2000-01 Music at Amherst Series on Friday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall at Amherst College, with music by Beethoven, Harbison, and Brahms. On Friday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m., the Wihan String Quartet, from the Czech Republic, will play quartets by Beethoven and Janácek.

Amherst Sculptor Will Create a New Work in Chile

August 8, 2000Director of Media Relations 413/542-8417 AMHERST, Mass.-DeWitt Godfrey, sculptor and assistant professor of fine arts at Amherst College, has been asked to participate in the II Sculpture Simposium Ciudad Empressarial to be held at the Galería Artespacio in Santiago, Chile from November 20 to December 4, 2000. Godfrey will create a sculpture in iron, to further the symposium's wish to "bring sculpture to public spaces" in Chile.

Male and Female Morphology in Hummingbirds Is Environmentally Determined
