Our plan for the first day is to discuss several chapters from Alan Weisman’s (2008) book The World Without Us. In particular, we would like you to read and be prepared to discuss chapters 1-3 and chapter 9 before class on Wednesday, September 9th. Feel free to skim (or read) as much of the rest of the text as you please. Weisman’s book is readily available in paperback; link to it at Amazon.com here.
