Description

The study and practice of ballet as a contemporary movement vocabulary. Objectives include the intellectual and physical practice in ballet, including increased body awareness, alignment, flexibility, coordination, strength, musical phrasing and the expressive potential of movement. The course material is presented at the intermediate/advanced level. Appropriate prior experience is required. A half-course. This course may be repeated for credit. Spring semester. The Department.

How to handle overenrollment: Appropriate prior experience required. Preference given to majors and those continuing ballet practice.

Students who enroll in this course will likely encounter and be expected to engage in the following intellectual skills, modes of learning, and assessment: This course will involve regular attendance and class participation and class discussion, and MAY include reading, possible viewing and writing assignments as applicable. Attendance at performances outside of class may also be required or suggested. The amount of work outside of class will be appropriate for a 2-credit half-course.
