Mission Statement


Spectra strives to build community among physics, astronomy, and biophysics (PAB) majors, empower students from underrepresented groups, and promote active communication between students and professors. Through community-focused, affinity, and career-oriented events, Spectra aims to promote interest in PAB and improve student satisfaction with the majors.
 

About Us


Spectra is a student-run Physics and Astronomy Club at Amherst College. We host events ranging from study sessions to research symposiums, to movie nights! We aim to promote inclusivity in physics, astronomy, and biophysics and encourage underrepresented groups to become involved. Physics, astronomy, and biophysics can be challenging – let’s tackle this together! 

The current Presidents of Spectra are Megan Goh and Fran Abdo Arias. Publicity Chair is Kobe Thompson. Julia Woodward holds the event chair position and the Secretary is Phoebe Neilsen. Other members of Spectra include Bek Herz, Connor Farquhar, Isla Steinman, Peter Klisiwecz, Alex del Franco, and Karen Kang.
