We are aware that the calendar of an admission cycle may not always account for times of crisis or significant disruptions to everyday life, which can impact students and their families, as well as teachers and counselors, all of whom are important to an admission process. If you have experienced or are experiencing disruptions that have made it difficult to submit your application, we want to work with you to ensure successful submission.

Deadline extensions are available, within reason, and will not impact your application for admission to Amherst. Please take the following steps:

  1. Email our Admission Office at admission@amherst.edu to request an extension of the application deadline. Please use the subject line "RD Application Extension Request" and provide a brief description of the special circumstances that have affected you.
  2. After emailing us, you should return to the Common Application or the Coalition Application to complete and submit your application when you are able.
  3. You may also be eligible for an Amherst application fee waiver - fill out our Quick Pass form to confirm.
