The Multicultural Resource Center has several reoccuring events that offered on a weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly basis. Below are the descriptions. 

Release | 

An open forum for Amherst community members to talk about issues of race, ethnicity, and cultural identity, and current events impacting us at Amherst and beyond. Conversations center the experiences and voices of people of color and are facilitated by Dr. Darien McFadden from the Center for Counseling and Mental Health. 

Late Night Study Hours | 

Join the MRC for late night study hours every Monday night! Sit down and do your work, or come by and talk with us about how your course readings are impacting your various identities.

Grab & Don't Go |  

The MRC hosts dynamic Grab-&-Don't Go lunchtime conversations every Wednesday at noon. Topics vary each week. Grab your lunch and come to the MRC for community and conversation. Past topics have included: Cultivating Joy; Breaking Immoral Laws; Reproductive Justice Is Racial Justice; Dr. Dao and State Violence against Asian Americans.

QTPOC Dinner | 

Amherst Queer and Trans People of Color Affinity Group seeks to support students, staff and faculty in the five colleges who identify as queer/trans/genderqueer people of color. The QTPOC dinner is a collaboration between the QRC and MRC and seeks to provide a safe space for queer people of color to build community, to celebrate all facets of our identities, and to engage in meaningful discussion.

The More You Know | 

A series highlighting thesis, capstones, or any other culminating project by seniors of color or seniors whose scholarship centers  race, ethnicity, and/or identity.

A Seat at the Table | 

A Seat at the Table is a monthly series intended to highlight faculty and staff of color by providing a space for them to share how they have worked/fought/resisted in order to get their metaphorical or actual seat at the table. This series is inspired by Shirley Chisholm’s quote “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”

Baewatch | 

Baewatch is a collaboration program between the MRC, QRC, and WGC and focuses on the intersections of race, gender, and queerness within dating and relationships. Each program has a different theme and format, ranging from a panel to an open discussion. Past themes have included: Toxcitity in Relationships; Love Languages; Online Dating.
