Today, many people living at Yankton are waking up. People here on Yankton are becoming more aware. The Yanktonai are beloved. No one considers the Yanktonai their enemies. All people take them as relatives. Many of these peoples are waking up and at least seeing you all as their relatives.

It takes after the paper called Ptáya Owókdake (Together We Tell Our Story). Whatever was covered by Ptáya Owókdake will be covered here. Yankton land will have this paper as firm record. This way, this people will be well aware of how they got their land. This will go around to all the Dakota people, so they will know who are the leaders of the Iháŋkthuŋwaŋ nowadays, and they will know all the important names. We think you will enjoy this. It will bring the language together. Iápi Oáye is pleased to announce this to you.

Iapi Oaye Napeyuza: Translation of “Dakota Wowakta” by Reverend John P. Williamson 

Summary

There are five pages of announcements outlining the organizational structure of the early “Ptaya Owohdake” or “Mission Meeting,” which include officers and assignments to early Dakota Christian evangelistic efforts to recruit and spread the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The legacy of this missionary effort persists today as other bands carry on the work of the Christian Church through the Dakota Presbytery, and some individuals work to indigenize and carry the messages of these early Mission Evangelical converts. This article includes a report of the early Mission meeting organization to the Ihantonwan Band of Dakota who were also Christian. Their names are mentioned as well as others who are coming to join this Christian Missionary work. What follows is a list of churches, the “Wowakta” or “Announcement” about the Mission Meeting’s members. Additional translations from the first page of this issue include: a Song “Christ My Savior” and a partial translation of Yankton band members.
