Peer Advocates

The Peer Advocates of Sexual Respect are students who have received intensive training and on-going supervision to act as a resource referral group for students who are in need of emotional support.  They work to create an environment where people are respected by others and promote awareness of the impact of sexual disrespect on victim/survivors and what constitutes a healthy relationship. Tread Shed

The Tread Shed is committed to empowering the Amherst community to adopt more environmentally sustainable and equitable transportation options through bicycling. It envisions its place among these communities as equipping individuals with the knowledge and experience to maintain their bicycles in order to promote a sense of confidence in exploring the Connecticut River Valley. Amherst Mobile Food Market

The Amherst Mobile Food Market is a community driven, bilingual mobile farmers market bringing affordable, organic fresh produce to Amherst's food desert neighborhoods. Discover more about this organization.

Amherst Senior Center

Amherst Senior Center and Council on Aging serves and supports older adults from all walks of life. They work to assist older adults in remaining as independent as possible, while maintaining total wellbeing and dignity. The Center offers programs and services to assist with all aspects of life: community building, mental wellness, health, cultural inclusion, volunteer outreach, accessibility, and cost-of-living. For 50 years Tapestry has been a leading expert in the community on critical public health issues. They provide access without stigma, meeting people where they are at and respecting their choices while providing health care, support services, and education for safer practices serving over 26,000 residents annually. Age, Aging, Ageism

This course investigates the connections between the politics of aging and political discourses surrounding seniors from an intersectional and interdisciplinary perspective, highlighting the fact that prejudice, stereotyping, and othering based on age (both towards the young, but primarily against the old) are "the last acceptable prejudice" in democratic societies.
