Will I be able to reserve a space for a private party?

There are several opportunities for graduates to be celebrated leading up to Commencement and during Commencement weekend, including Senior Celebration on May 7 (an elegant reception for graduates featuring live music, dinner, and bar service for those who are 21+), affinity-based ceremonies, and celebrations hosted by academic departments and athletic teams. Families and guests are welcome to attend a reception at President Elliott’s home on Saturday, May 25, at 4:30 p.m. See the weekend schedule for more events.

Amherst College is unable to offer spaces for private celebrations during Commencement weekend. On-campus events hosted by families, including those with catering, entertainment, and/or alcohol, are prohibited by the College and the Town of Amherst Board of Health.

Those interested in hosting a gathering during Commencement weekend are encouraged to pursue a venue off campus, such as a restaurant or banquet/event space. Additionally, the Town of Amherst offers outdoor pavilion rentals.
