Outdoors Colleague Resource Group (CRG)

Welcome to the Outdoors CRG! The group was started by three staff acting as facilitators to schedule the first few meetings and help the group get organized. In this group, we hope to discuss ideas with staff and faculty who attend the meetings and use these creative suggestions to start planning activities that will encourage staff and faculty to get outdoors, to explore and discover, to network and meet new people, and to enjoy our spectacular campus.

In our initial planning meeting, we identified some goals and values that we hope will focus our efforts, including:

  • provide a range of outdoor activities that will be inclusive and open to anyone regardless of skill level
  • identify resources and activities that will help people discover and participate in fun, outdoor activities
  • provide activities that will allow for networking across campus and building community
  • offer skill-based sessions to teach people about pursuing outdoor activities (for example, how to dress for cold weather activities, bicycle maintenance, archery, yoga and mindfulness, birding, community service on the farm or on campus, and more)
  • create fun ways for people to track participation and measure accomplishments (for example, how many steps/miles did people walk in a day)

We welcome anyone to our meeting(s) to share your enthusiasm for the outdoors, to contribute your ideas to our list of events and projects, or simply to come and explore ways to get outside and relax and rejuvenate yourself and your coworkers.

If you cannot attend the meeting, please check back to this website for updates and future meetings. And feel free to contact any of the Outdoors facilitators with your ideas and suggestions.

We are:

  • Lauren Reutenauer, Academic Manager Organic Chemistry

We look forward to seeing you outside!
